Kim Akhtar is a certified sommelier (WSET Diploma) who has worked in fine dining in New York and Paris. Currently at Le Bernardin (3-Michelin stars) where she is also the cellar master, looking after 12,000 bottles on site, she worked at Le Cou Cou (1-Michelin star), also in New York, prior to which she was at L'Arpège (3-Michelin stars) in Paris. A world traveler, she has traveled extensively throughout Europe, the Middle East, Asia and South America always looking for interesting experiences in food and wine. Wine was not what she did out of college. In fact, she started her career as the assistant manager to the rock group, The Cure, followed by a decade working for Dan Rather at CBS News. She is also a, author having penned and published 6 books. Multilingual, she speaks 6 languages, including English, French, and Spanish fluently.
